Let's hear those projections!
Ever the optimist, I'm going with 70 wins (O/U is 66). Much will be contingent on if Greene, Lodolo, and Ashcraft stay healthy - really hope all three can stay healthy and build up their innings, in hopes they'll be 180+ IP guys next season. I would say their development is the most important aspect of this season - it's hard to see a path to this team being good in 2024 without the three of them all being above average.
I expect the 4th/5th starters to be a revolving door - there's really no one on the 40 man I'm even slightly confident can fill these roles. It looks like Overton is going to have a spot and the dude got absolutely rocked this spring, and Cessa is a reliever who apparently is going to be miscast as a starter. Hopefully someone can come up from Louisville or Chattanooga and provide a boost (though I don't see that as likely either - Williamson is the best bet but can't throw strikes).
The bullpen is whatever - not good.
I do like the platoon approach the Reds are taking with several spots. If Fraley stays healthy he can have a very nice year. Hopefully Myers will hit enough to net a solid prospect in July. Given the Reds glut of middle infield prospects, I would highly consider trading him if he is having a good year. He's already 26 and is arbitration eligible beginning next year - if he's putting up an .800 OPS at the ASB I would really try to move him for pitching help.
Also hoping Votto can have a nice retirement tour, but expectations are low.
The more I type the more I'm talking myself out of 70 wins and into 65... but whatever, it's Opening Day, let's be optimistic!
