I was on Wikipedia I believe it was and it said, in the last 116 years of Cincinnati Reds baseball history, the Reds have been to the playoffs 16 times and won the World Series 5 times. Outside the 70's, has this team ever been worth a Fecal Matter?
Won their first World Series under a black sox scandal in 1919. Took a World Series in 1940. Back to back in the 70's (75' and 76') where they went to the playoffs a good chunk during that decade (only good period in team history), and then that lucky improbably wire to wire season in 1990.
16 times in 116 years? So if you are lucky as a Reds fan, you will get to see your team make the playoffs once every 7 to 8 years.
Hell, the Bengals have made the playoffs 14 times in 53 years and during a recent decade stretch, they went to 7 playoffs in 10 years including 5 in a row. They can't win a dang playoff game and doesn't have championships or titles like the Reds, but damn. Hard to be a sports fan of the city of Cincinnati.

They’ll go more often if mlb gets its way and 60% of the teams make the playoffs.

Want to guess what period it was when major market teams couldn’t throw their money around and best ran teams won.
I’m willing to bet you could make a similar discovery for every small to mid market team.
The time that there was a draft but no or very limited free agency was the late 60s-70s. And just look at the teams that were good. Cincinnati kanas city Pittsburg Baltimore
Till baseball fixes the financial model I’m pretty much a fan without a team.

I don't know whether all of of what was said is true. The Reds had some very good teams in the late fifties and the early sixties. The National League was always a dogfight though because so many clubs in the NL had some real studs. There were no playoffs. Some of the Reds teams could have made the playoffs if there had been more divisions and wild cards. During the late 80's and early ninties the Reds had some great teams under Rose and Schott. But only four teams made the playoffs. The Reds could have done better the past few years. Just having money does not guarantee a championship. Look at the Angels. Look at the Yankees now. I actually believe that the Yankees will struggle for free agents in the up coming years due to taxation. Who wants 60% of your earnings to go to taxes. The Dodgers did win the series last year, but it was for the first time in over thirty years. The Padres could overetake them this year. Watch out for the Diamondbacks too. That is a good ball club.
