Eduardo Perez and Dusty Baker are in the running for the Astro's job. I kinda hope that Baker gets it because it is a disaster waiting to happen.
Astros owner has put the hiring of a manager ahead of a GM. So nothing is happening on the free agent market or trading market . The GM won't get to pick his own manager. The AA affiliate does not have a manager which is something I would think a GM would do.
Meanwhile the Astros lost two starting pitchers during the off-season, and the #1 pitching prospect hasn't done well in the minors. ACE Verlander is also 37 which means he is a sore arm waiting to happen.
Jose Altuve says the Astros will be in the World Series. I wouldn't bet on it.

He's a smart hire for the Astros.

Baker has a one year contract. If the Astros don't go to the series this year which is doubtful he is gone. The owner hasn't even hired a GM yet. The entire outfield hits free agency next year. Verlander is 37. Two of the relievers are 35. Baker is just a fill in untilthe Astros can start to rebuild.
