web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?n=Griffin%20%203B&pos=&sid=milb&t=p_pbp&pid=446422Last year at 23 he hit almost .320 between High A and AA and this year starting off in AA I think he could really breakout. The question is could he push for a starting spot or is he a utility type for sure ? I for one am starting to wonder. He just stole his 3rd base already tonight in the bottom of the 1st tonight . If he hits say .320 this year between AA and AAA will that change your mind about Griffen ?

When you look into his stats he has average power and solid speed, He does not strike out alot and he puts up solid OBP numbers. Heis a 2 time allstar getting the honor in the midwest league and the Florida State league last year, I would thinka southern league honor should be on the way. He has always been under the radar but I am starting to think he has a shot at winning a Starting spot at some point, maybe not in cinci but if he is traded could he develope into a starter at either 2b, 3rd or maybe LF ?

Griffin is one of those guys who doesn't look like he has all the tools, but all he ever does is produce. I think he is the most likely candidate to be a super-sub in the future, because he can play any position except CF, SS, and C, and play it at average to above average defenisvely. I still think of him as a utility guy, but he could Keppinger his way into the lineup with solid defense and a non stop bat if he keeps it up.

I agree Duke I dont know if he ever starts in Cinci but if he is traded at some point I think he could start. I for one think he has a shot at a September callup this year for the Reds ! maybe he takes over for Freel after this year !

One thing I would like to do is keep at least two of the guys that look like Utility guys for bench versitility.

I agree but if Griffen hits well enough he might have solid trade value.
That is a smart idea though

If we contend like I think we will all these spare part minor leaguers with good value could come in handy as trade chips.
