After being let go from the Dodgers, I went on to have 2 batting titles, win a MVP, and got voted into the HOF...

Ernie never played for the Dodgers. He was traded on March 14, 1932 by the Brooklyn Robins who didn't officially become the Dodgers until April 14, 1932. Actually Lombardi wasn't let go, he was traded to Cincinnati because another HOF in Al Lopez was only 19 and Brooklyns catcher of the future.

Al Lopez got into the HOF for his many years managing the Pale Hose.
