Read that the Yankees really want to get rid him. He did have a bad year but outside of yankee stadium he pitched pretty well. He also had trouble on turf. He could be a good pick up. Offer the Yankees Hamilton and give the kid a try

Kid is definitely not cut out for the bright lights of NY, could flourish in Cincy

Thought this too when I saw him mentioned on MLBtraderumors. Agree that he could be a cheap pickup this year. Wonder what NYY want for him though. They aren't getting Senzel, Trammell, Santillan or Hunter. Anyone else though is fair game IMO.
Doubt they would take BH straight up...I know I wouldn't.

I'm not sure I see the point to taking on Sonny Gray. He might turn it around in Cincinatti, but he's third year arby eligible which means he'll leave after the year is over.
As we saw last July, that due to the reduced compensation upon departure and the fact you don't any draft picks if you trade a rent-a-vet, you won't get much for flipping Gray come July.
Let Reds young arms sink or swim. The Reds need to take the long view (which Williams & Krull seem incapable of doing).

I don’t think that gray is really all that good. Product of Oakland’s stadium

The Reds have no business trading for anyone under team control for only 12 months. In fact, they should trade away the guys they have now that are only team controlled for that long....looking at you Scooter/BHam.

Let Reds young arms sink or swim. The Reds need to take the long view (which Williams & Krull seem incapable of doing). They've done that, it's clear they need help from the outside. Sign FA's or trade for pitcher(s) who are team controlled for multiple years.

Agreed, but I wonder if the outside help is getting coaches from the Majors on down that actually now how to develop pitchers.

Sign FA's or trade for pitcher(s) who are team controlled for multiple years. Yeah, agreed. Next year has to be a step towards actually winning MLB games. They can still roll the dice on a couple young starting pitchers, but they have to identify specific young SPs rather than view 8 prospects as legitimate candidates to be moved in and out of the MLB rotation. They need a couple of veterans with establish performance levels. They HAVE to remove some of the uncertainty in the rotation.
