It is time for baseball to embrace a sudden death approach to the game. I know some like tradition, but baseball could make extra-innings exciting and something people wanted to see by embracing changes. Consider this.
At the beginning if the tenth inning the visiting would come to bat. The line-up would be preserved, but the first batter due would be put on third base., the second batter on second, and the third on first. The relief pitcher would face three batters or less if three outs were recorded before the second or third batters. If three outs were not recorded the pitcher would still only face three batters.
The batters would only be given six pitches. If the count went full and the batter fouled one off he would be out. Give a k to the pitcher. He won the battle.
Game stoppage would not be permitted. Visits to the mound would not be allowed. If a player on the field was injured on the defensive team all runners would score including the batter at the time.
If the visiting team scores six runs the game would be over.
Pitching changes would be allowed between innings only as the game progresses and is still tied. Pinch hitters and pinch runners may be used.
