RF Gabriel Guerrero is having a crazy June so far for the Bats: .395/.409/.535 in 11 games. Since his promotion from Pensacola he's put up respectable .308/.339/.425; one strike against him is he is hitting better with the bases empty.
2B Dilson Herrera has come back to life -- see my post on his thread.
Much like their big league counterparts, the Bats bullpen has been pretty effective -- Rainey, Herget, Crockett, and Evan Mitchell have all pitched fairly well but have some worrisome peripherals. Unforutantely none of the Bat's rotation (Stephenson, Reed, Finnegan, Lopez, & Nicolino) has done much to distinguish themselves.
CF C. J. McElroy has come back to earth after a standout May - .328/.416/.507. Other than McElroy, it's been pretty dismal for the Blue Wahoo -- Shed Long who had a torrid April has gone into a serious funk, and Nick Longhi has dropped off as well. While Keury Mella, after being unhittable in April has been entirely hittable since. At least Alejandro Chacin, resigned by the Reds, has pitched well in his first seven games.
For the Dry Tortugas, OFs Taylor Trammell and T. J. Friedl are both doing well. Trammell built on his solid April with just as good a May and is now showhing a .298/.406/.449 line with 6 dingers in 56 games while playing very solid defensively in all three outfield positions -- he's doing a little better in the corner positions. Friedl is likewise been pretty consistant (until about a week ago), .294/.404/.407. C Tyler Stephenson had a serious drop off after his steallar April. 1B Ibandel Isabel, picked up from the Dodgers in the deal that sent Ariel Hernandez that way, has put up monster power numbers with 16 dingers for Daytona since coming over to the Reds! The dark side is he does match that 64 strikeouts and interestingly a 1.70 ground-to-fly ratio. Still he has Dunn-esque .250/.337/.600 slash line in the 41 games he's been the Dry Tortugas.
Tony Santillan in the Daytona rotation along with Wennington Romero continues to impress. Santillan despite a mediocre 5-4 record has a 3.00 ERA with solid peripherals including a 1.22 WHIP 55Ks in his 69 IP. He has shown a worrisome trend of getting hit harder of late. Romero has to be getting people to start taking notice of him -- he has a 3.22 ERA with a 1.00 WHIP and an opposing BA of .212. The Dry Tortugas have seen impressive release work by their bullpen -- Ryan Hendrix, Kevin Canelon, Joel Kuhnel, & Jesse Stallings. Hendrix has been wild, but is sporting impressive numbers.
Things have gone well for the Dragons' hitters: OFs Narcisso Cook (.263/.337/.525) and Michael Beltre (.297/.404.448) have both earned promotions to the Dry Tortugas (where Cook is off to a paritcularly good start). While OF Stuart Fairchild continues to hit well .283/.379/.462 with 6 dingers while C Hendrick Clementina (who may make the Cingrani deal look real good) is tearing it up with an unbelievable .322/.399/.603 slash line and 9 dingers.
Like with the rest of the organization, the Dragon's bullpen has done fairly well while the rotation has not. Cory Thompson, John Gryzel, and Ryan Nutoff have all performed well.
