They are making him focus solely on pitching, and the Dragons are in a DH league I think.

They are making him focus solely on pitching, and the Dragons are in a DH league I think. He doesn't have to pitch and bat at the same time, so why not stick him at DH on days off?

Management has already decided they are taking him away from batting so he can focus solely on pitching. Not my decision, as I think you stick with what makes Hunter Greene, Hunter Greene. But, that is the direction they have decided to go in. They felt him focusing on both things would make both areas progress too slowly.

He has been getting bombed this season but in his last start, he threw 4 shutout, 2 H, 0 BB and 5 K innings.

100mph is nice, but he is learning that just because he can throw 100mph doesn't mean he can be dominate. He is having to learn how to pitch now, not just throw and overpower hitters. He is coming straight out of high school, not college, and the pros is going to be a massive adjustment. Why college pitchers are preferred over high school pitchers anymore.
It will take him a good solid 3 to 4 years to get near the major league level and be ready.

I think it's important to keep in mind that this was a fairly aggressive assignment for Hunter Greene, at age 18. They could've easily justified keeping him in extended spring training, doing drills, throwing batting practice, that kinda stuff, like many 2017 high school draft picks, until the rookie leagues start up. He only threw 4.1 innings as a professional last year, after all.
Instead he got the more aggressive assignment into full season ball, like I think we all hoped to see. That's led to some problems, as he has to adjust and learn on the job to face professional hitters on the job, in the spotlight, rather than in the more controlled environment of Arizona. Still he's just building up his inning totals, starting out at 2-3 inning outings, now up to 4-5. He had his first 5 inning outing a couple of days ago, in his 9th start. His job is to learn, and he seems to be doing that.
He's up to 26.1 innings through 9 starts, but I wonder what his target inning total is. 50? 100? 150? Probably 100 or less.
I'm not at all surprised he's focusing solely on pitching, his arm is his path to the majors, his bat is just an alternative.
What makes Hunter Greene Hunter Greene? Is it his right arm, or his being a two-way player? I'd say that if Hunter Greene isn't already known best for his 100mph fastball, he will be before long.
