Heard the Giants were interested in Hamilton. I wonder if they offered Cueto. I'd take the deal. Cueto could be a huge influence on the young pitchers. He also could give the team some needed swagger. He is properly as good as any free agent out there now.

If the Reds could have afforded Cueto he'd likely still be a Red, unless the Giants are picking up the tab for a decent chunk of his contract I just don't see this happening.

How about also sending them Votto and getting back some members of their farm system?

How about also sending them Votto and getting back some members of their farm system? The Giants have no prospects worthy of a player like Votto. Votto isn't the issue with the Reds, the Reds are getting every cent they are paying him and then some. I would say that two of the top prospects in the Giants system are C. Arroyo and T. Beede, basically Joe Randa and Mike Leake at best. So you'd get those two and save Votto money to pay probably one or two more players In Votto the Reds have a great player (he could easily retire the greatest Red) who wants to be a Cincinnati Red and does a lot for the team and community. Yes he's paid well and the contract is likely going to be bad in a handful of years, but Votto's skill set and drive should allow him to age well. He's a known quantity and trading him just to get out of a market value contact is foolish. Teams have to pay someone if they want to be more then a quad A minor league team. Votto is exactly the player small market teams should look to lock on to. Plays every game, one of the best hitters in the game, and hasn't shown signs of dropping off.

I don't know, maybe they do a three way including belt. I doubt it will happen because he is so loved in this city. I can see him going to his home team in Toronto if they hadn't grossly overpaid for their position players. thems the breaks. He wouldn't be a red if the management didn't like the guy. Maybe a batting title would prove, once and for all he is the best hitter in the game, but the lineup structure, holing him in the 3 spot isn't going to help him to get a two out hit with nobody on base. Dems da breaks.
