Last night Marty was talking about all of the people leaving the park with the game after nine. This never happens in football and basketball.
A solution The teams both start the tenth with the bases loaded. (the next three in the line-up.) The teams each get 3 baters to drive in as many runs as possible. But only three at bats. (Next three in the line-up.)A foul ball with two strikes is an out. If a batter gets himself in the hole it is his problem. Put the ball in play.
This would speed the game up. It seems to slow down a lot in extra innings.
There is also the problem of too many Home Runs/ strikeouts and walks per total number of at bats. There are too few balls in play. So I would consider using the foul out with two strikes in the game also. Maybe give the batter one foul ball after two strikes. Second foul and he is gone. There seems to be too many times that the batter gets 10-12 pitches. The maximum should be eight. This would also save pitchers arms. The Reds are not he only team with pitching issues. I know the Astros half lost two starters this year and the A's lost their best starter.
To help the batter, I would regulate shifts. The infielders should have to begin an at bat in a designated area. Especially the shortstop and second baseman. The third baseman can still guard the line late in a game.

I would also mandate a minimum of 20 seconds between each pitch. If it is not thrown it is a ball. If the batter is not ready it is his problem. If he is not in the batter's box he is out. Maybe it should be ten seconds.

Why is everyone now opposed to extra innings? I don't get it.

If MLB tickets cost as much as NFL or NBA tickets or if the MLB played 1/10th the number of regular season games (equal to the NFL), people wouldn't leave early either.

Marty crys about everything. Extra innings, double header, long road trips. Just a grumpy old man with inflated ego.

Why? I for one, appreciate the fact that there is someone in that booth who doesn't have Reds ownership/leadership balls in his mouth. The one thing I do hate about Marty is his incessant relationship with Tracy Jones, I can't stand their ridiculous banter.

I don't have a issue with him calling out the reds moves but complaining about all the other stuff gets old.
