A couple things really surprised me about this. First of all, where was Posey? It is a catchers job to protect his pitcher. It is also a catcher's job to prevent a pitcher from doing this. Where was the first baseman?
Of course, Strickland was really dumb. He invited the charge to the mound when he threw his glove down. he should have just turned away. it is what Gibson would have done, and I knew he threw inside. Pitchers have to let batters know that they own the inside half of the plate. One of the reasons you see so many home runs today is that batters are digging in.

Posey probably thought the pitcher deserved it after that bush league plunking.

After seeing footage of his helmet throwing abilities the Reds have signed Bryce Harper to be a starting pitcher
Manager Price had said with that arm and control Harper will be the Reds new ace.

In all seriousness Harper has a pretty good arm, as a pitcher he's probably better then some of the guys the Reds are running out there. Of course that doesn't mean that he'd be any good either.

Baseball does need to fix these suspensions if they want to reduce the times stuff like this happens.
Really Strickland's 6 game suspension is more like 2 maybe 3, heck it could also be 1 or even 0 games. He should have got 15 games, which would likely ensure 4-5 actual times he'd have been used, if he was a starter I'd say 20 to get at least 3 starts. Don't appeal and have likely 4 days till next start...start...likely five more days (up to 10) Start and five more days up to 16 then start and they'd be cleared to start in three to four days. So three missed starts or three real games.
Harper wasn't in the right here, but he was far less wrong then Strickland. Its likely even with it reduced Harper will be suspended for more actual games.

Harper pitched some in high school, was up to 97.
