This series is interesting because this is the 75th anniversary of the 1940 World series between the Reds and the Tigers. The tigers had no recognition of it, probably because they lost. Will there be any recognition at GABP. Are there any players still alive from the series.

Regrettably, Eddie Joost was the last surviving member of the 1940 Reds. He passed in 2011 at age 94.

Regrettably, Eddie Joost was the last surviving member of the 1940 Reds. He passed in 2011 at age 94. A friend of mine has every 1940 Reds player autograph who appeared in a game during that season except a OF named Mike Dejan and a Pitcher named Lefty Guise. It took him over 5 years to get all of these and some pretty good coin on a few of the players. He also has a autographed bat used by Ival Goodman.

I've been planning to write up something on the 1940 series similar to the 1919 series entry in the HOF part of the board but haven't had the time. If anyone has visual stuff to include, post it here...
