He often comes across as a bundle of catchphrases and conventional sentiment. He may be a decent person, but it doesn't translate into insightful or even effective game calling/commentary...

He's a Pollyanna, which works better when the team is winning, and tends to grate when not. That might explain why it mostly bothers Reds fans.

He has no business in a Reds broadcasting booth.

I never said he was revolutionary. Or a guy to turn to for learning fascinating new things. I think he does a good job of keeping things positive, and telling people why they should care even a bit about all the players on the field. Some broadcasters make me angry. Most notably Joe Morgan, and more recently Marty Brennaman with his unreasonable targeting of players like Votto. Sean Casey has been pretty bad when he's done Reds games. I just never minded Grande at all.

Obviously, you don't want someone who clouds over and rains on the air, but there's something to be said for a more neutral affect and using the game, rather than sentiment, to bring some life to the broadcast...

On the contrary, I think he's better used when the Reds are losing, to tell fans reasons why they should still watch. If the team's winning they don't need his rosy outlook. If they're in a losing streak they should bring in Grande, in my opinion. That might have something to do with why he's calling Cardinals games, which the Reds regularly lose... If the broadcaster is going to make the fans angry at the team they're more likely to just turn off the game and go do something else.

No, agreeing with the masses is what keeps them there. Disagreeing with them is what angers them and makes them leave. In other words....DUH

IF LA eats a significant, i mean significant portion of Hamilton's contract... give him a chance? Just an outside the box idea for the offense.
