Byrd was hard to watch last night.....looked completely clueless at the plate. Thirteen strikeouts in 38 opportunities, no walks. He never talked in detail about his formula for striking out less this year, but it might be time to tweak it...

I don't care if Mesoraco looks terrible. I'd rather him get 500 at bats and hit .150 than see Marlon Byrd at all.

Good approach, bad swing/outcome for Billy.

Based on early returns, there are walks to be had today. Carlos not looking crisp.

There isn't a hitter in this lineup other than Votto that I have one ounce of faith in to reach base.

Phillips has never seen a first pitch that he didn't like.

There isn't a hitter in this lineup other than Votto that I have one ounce of faith in to reach base. It's a bad team and it needs to be dismantled yesterday. There's also nobody in the minors! This is a 100+ loss team for the next few seasons.

Phillips has never seen a first pitch that he didn't like. Entering today's game, he was seeing 2.54 pitches per plate appearance. Now that's aggressive.

I can't help but like Matt Carpenter. Dude controls the hell out of the strike zone.

Jay Bruce still blows in RF. Nice throw, Jay.
