...not until he's got his velocity and fastball command back, at least.

As long as he's healthy, LeCure isn't a bad deal at that price...

As long as he's healthy, LeCure isn't a bad deal at that price... 30 General Managers disagree with you, including one who can't even put a rotation together (PHI), and another who just gave Kevin Gregg 1.5M$.

And he's obviously healthy. If he weren't he wouldn't have pitched in 7 spring games - and would instead be placed on the Reds 60 day disabled list today.

Makes absolutely no sense to keep Gregg over LeCure. None. Seems like Price must have a lot of influence on these decisions about the pitchers. If the staff blows up, and these marginal choices are part of it, Price should probably share the hook with Jocketty. Obviously, same goes for the credit if these are successful reads...

After years of hearing about Bryan Price's expertise as a pitching coach he's getting to turn his expertise into some roster decisions... it'll be interesting to see how his selections do, in several cases going against career numbers (Marquis, Gregg, LeCure), standing by DeSclafani and Hoover, and making a surprise decision on Cingrani. Also praise of Lorenzen, which fortunately didn't result in a roster spot.

Yeah, incredible, no one ever disagrees with me. It was a surprising decision by the Reds, the waiver reactions could involve more than just concerns about the money. I think the Reds are fortunate to have LeCure in the system; his salary isn't high on the list of problems heading into the season...

And especially the bold part.

At least we have some experienced bullpen depth in AAA if one of these mugs turns into a gas can...

If I try really, really hard, I can almost kinda' sorta' understand why Gregg made the team over Lecure.
I can't at all understand how Lecure made the team over Hoover.

2015 looks very different than 2014 in that the the Louisville Bats will have lots of players on the roster who I want called up, a few of whom seem comparable to or better than their competition on the 25 man roster.
LeCure joins that list, along with Waldrop, Suarez, Yorman Rodriguez, Barnhart... sorta Lutz. Also Lorenzen, Moscot, Holmberg, Corcino, Contreras, and Sampson. All seem worth keeping an eye on, if nothing else. The Reds are far better position to make changes this year than they were last.

Sam LeCure @mrlecure · 1h 1 hour ago thank you all for your well wishes and support. caught me off guard too. just another bump in a long road. the goal stays the same.
Sam LeCure @mrlecure · 1h 1 hour ago I still believe in this team, many deserving candidates for the jobs available. I'll be "stashin'" in Louisville, a great place to play
Sam LeCure @mrlecure · 1h 1 hour ago yall aren't rid of me just yet. it's nice to know I've had a positive effect on some people and that you felt confident in me. much love
--------- Granted that's just Twitter, but it sounds like LeCure will accept the assignment to Louisville (rather than forgo his contract and become a free agent). I'm glad. Also good he's taking it relatively well. Hopefully he'll quickly earn his way back.
According to Price: "His velocity is down a little bit, but the concern isn't the velocity," Price said. "The concern is fastball command. … His bread and butter we've seen over the last five years is being able to locate that fastball with that off-the-body comebacker on lefties and freeze down and away on the right-handers. It's a signature pitch for him. He's been a little erratic with that since the second half of last season." ...so that's what he needs to work on to return.

[ Some good reenforcements this year, more confident in the back up pitching than last year, ton of young arms, and bats for that matter.

I would imagine this is the toughest time of year for teams to grab players off of waivers. In theory, you have spent all offseason filling holes and maxing out your budget, now you are focused on cutting down to a 25-man roster rather than adding more players via waivers.
