Mike Leake was a 1st round starter, why on earthy would Jocketty waste such a blooming talent bringing him up to pitch out of the pen? Good lord, Cueto-Leake-Latos are all destined for free agency in 18 months leave the damn kid in the minors starting! We have to sign one of Cueto or Latos. If we don't and we are sticking with Bailey as our ACE, we are just FUBARd for the foreseeable future.

Lively picked up his 9th win tonight, but it wasn't pretty. Through 7 innings he walked no one and only gave up 7 hits, but 3 of them were homeruns (5 earned runs), the good thing is he gave them up in the 3rd/4th but came back and shut them down for 3 more innings. He pulled out the win because his team belted 5 homeruns of their own (14 earned runs).
Something in the air tonight!

The launching pad that is High Desert. It's more homer friendly than Bakersfield despite Bakersfield being 352 to CF. No walks, 7 K's, I'm fine with that start.

Lively is now at 10 W - 1 L in 13 starts on the year:
He pitched 5 innings last night, 7 H's, 3 BB's, 9 K's, 4 ER's
He's given up 13 earned runs over his last 18 innings (3 starts).

You had to expect some regression to the mean. Also why it wasn't the no brainer to promote him ASAP like some were calling for. That said, I could still see him getting promoted after the Cal/Car ASG.

Yes, it is still a hitters league that he is pitching in so unless he completely blows up his next start or two he could certainly see a promotion coming. Daniel Wright has kind of picked up the torch now for Bakersfield... he continues to dominate. Bakersfield has just really got it going this year after stinking the Cal league up the past couple of seasons.
