it isn't really a problem.
They have an over-abundance of players at this point.
Sooner or later some of these young guys are going to force the Reds to make decisions about older guys
Lutz and Soto will force the Reds to think about Ludwick. If Ludwick struggles, it could cost them money as his trade value will fall through the floor.
Choo is expensive and already hurt. Standing in the wings are Robinson, Hamilton and Perez. Hamilton still has to show he can hit. Robinson has always hit in the spring. It is the rest of the year he can't figure out. Duke, I know you say Perez stinks, but the guy can hit. Both Robinson and he could replace Paul right now. And Yorman hasn't even come up
Yes Chapman could start. I think however it will be very hard for the Reds to repeat last years feat of going with only 5 pitchers all year. I think he will get the opportunity. Even so if Corcino and Cingrani do well in AAA what do you do with the rest of the rotation.
Then there is the infield with with Isturis and rodriguez.

Lutz is over a year away, so not much of a problem with Ludwick on a 2 year deal. His defense in LF is still raw, he still needs to shows he can hit for average and more in game power, and he is in AA.
Soto regressed last year and has been bad everywhere except 1B, where we have an MVP candidate. If someone values him in a trade at all, jump on that value.
Hamilton needs a full year in AAA moreso to work on hitting (especially from the left side when he isn't bunting) than his defense, which has been progressing rapidly.
Robinson and Perez are AAAA players at best imo, maybe they can be suitable 4/5 OF. I doubt they are any better than Heisey or Paul.
HRod is brutal at 2B. He is a 3B or LF at this point. Most likely a super sub because his bat will play we'll off the bench and he can fill multiple positions in a pinch.
Don't get caught up in spring training stats. A lot of these guys are running into spring training fastballs.
We've bungled Chapman. Trying to start him now will likely just make things worse. Should have been done in 2011. He's a closer at this point imo.

choo hasn't played since March 15 because of his back. It was on the Reds website. I read somewhere else that he might not be ready Opening Day

What do you think other teams would give up for Chapman? Probably not much, but it's better than nothing.

Chapman is young, under team control for a few more seasons, throws over 100 MPH, and had a historically great season last year as the closer.
On what planet does he not have much trade value?
