Let's face it Stubbs is decent against Left handers. Hamilton appears to stink against left handers. Could the Reds platoon them?

As a worse case scenario but when BHam gets here it would be nice to pencil him in every day no matter who the starting pitcher is.
It would also be nice if Stubbs would steal more bases as having him on the bench late in the game to pinch run and/or play a defensive outfield would be great
as a side note what are we looking at for Stubbs salary coming up? he may be wanting too much to be a platoon/bench player

Where do you get that Hamilton can't hit lefties?
His splits in the minors show him to be comparable to his stats against right handers.
vs RHP HiA .325 234 76 10 6 0 36 48 1 .418 .419 vs LHP HiA .320 103 33 8 3 1 14 22 1 .402 .485 vs LHP AA .306 49 15 1 1 0 5 9 0 .370 .367 vs RHP AA .278 126 35 3 4 1 31 34 0 .418 .389

At Arizona he is batting .188 against lefties versus .308 against right-handers. He also hasn't stolen a base against a left-hander, but he has been picked off. He has struck out 1 in every three at bats against lefties and has not walked.

I've shown this season in over 150 at bats over HiA and AA (also not huge sample size but better then 17) that he can not only hit them, but hit them well. Putting him in a platoon based on just what he's accomplished in 17 at bats is folly. Heck even Joey Votto has gone 3 for 17 at some point in his career.

I would assume he has the green light to go whenever he wants? Or is it Baker (which I honestly wouldnt be surprised at all) not letting him take off? With his speed, he should have more then 20-30 SB. He should be in the 50-60 range. Maybe Stubbs is too stupid and doesnt care! Who knows. Maybe B-Ham could teach him a thing or two

I'm not at all concerned about Hamilton's bat, he has and will continue to develop his bat. What I am concerned with is his defensive development or lack their of.
The quicker Hamilton picks up on CF the quicker he will be the Reds everyday leadoff and CF'er. I've seen one highlight of him making a diving catch at the warning track in the AFL but he should have caught it standing up. That tells me he has a lot of work to do. He'll get though, he's to talented not to IMO.
Jocko has said they want to address the leadoff position and I assume that with come through trade or FA. Hamilton is another year away from being with the Reds full time.

I don't are how smart or dumb you are you can't steal 2nd during the walk back to the dugout after you just K'ed for the 500th time in your career.

I think Stubbs platooned with Josh Hamilton on another team is a novel idea
