Who do we have that can run in the farm system? I know sabermetricians feel that speed is overrated, but I'd love to have a burner to two in the lineup.
I've been following Eugenio Velez of the Giants and he's almost Deion Sanders fast. The Giants grabbed him from Toronto in the AAA phase of the Rule V draft, which is nice get by them. I'd love to have someone like that on the Reds again.
I guess our best bets for stolen bases are Chris Dickerson, Drew Stubbs, and maybe Justin Reed. Of course, I'm not sure I'd put any of those guys in the elite basestealer category.
The way power predominates the modern game, it's harder to find speed than HRs, but I want some electricity in the lineup and on the bases. Maybe the Reds can grab some in this year's draft.

The speed game went out in the80's and its a sad thing reallyLook at the cards in he80's with Colman, and Mcgee at the top of the order. They were so good that allowed a guy like Herr to drive in 100 runs without hitting even 10 hr's one year!
The stoeln base is a lost art !
As for the Reds I think Stubbs will prove to be the best of the base stealers. He has 30-40 sb speed but last year he played hurt all year with the bad foot.

I've heard Menchaca has got some wheels, Stubbs is well above average, but not elite, and Keltavious Jones is pretty fast, but he is very raw running the bases. I totally agree on speed. A guy like Jose Reyes gets inside the pitchers head and when he gets on base, the guys behind him thrive.

It really brings a new dynamic to the offense. Hell, I'd love to have TWO of them at the top of the lineup.
