Freel is one who is rusting on the bench. He has never been the best ph. this year he is 1-9 he is one how needs regualler playing time to be able to hit. he does not play enough to bat what he is cappable of doing. if he is not better utillizer trade him to do him justes so he can go some where he can actural play some. starting once a week is not enough. when he does start he is he has at least 1 hit in 5 of the 6 games. 3 are mult hit games. I love watching him play but it comes a time to think of the player and not your own wishes becouse if it were up to me he would be here untill he retires. he needs more playing time and if he does not get it let him go somewhere he will. sorry for long tangent.

he is a .270-.275 hitter he is rusting when you play once a week.
I never clamed he was even close to .300 just better than what he is showing this year.
there is an old saying in baseball in revalving arould the ability to hit.
"some need to play every day"
he needs to play more just not every day.

At least we have the losing streak stopper Volquez coming up facing Barry Zito who has lost his first 5 starts (0-5)

This team failed to draw a single walk today, AMAZING. We swing at more bad pitches then anyone I've seen. Phillips has got to stop swinging at crap along with Dunn and others. Votto has been swinging the bat but Votto has 1 BB in 58 AB's. BP has 6 BB in 84 AB's. CPat 6 BB in 64 AB's. Kepp 6 BB's in 89AB's. Jr. 9 BB's in 78 AB's. Compared to the strikeout #'s these guys have put up (exclude Kepp) that's not going to cut it. Votto has been aggressive with the bat and in the field, I can live with that, he's learning. Same thing with EE, more so with the bat. But Dunn, BP, and Jr. have to be smarter at the plate if we're going to get back in this thing. And we have to start getting something from the lead off spot on a more consistent basis. Hairston has shown some promise form the lead off position and CPat had a good day today although both made huge base running mistakes. Something this team has got to limit themselves with is mistakes. Their's nothing worse then shooting yourself in the foot.
On to San Fran where the Reds start another 9 game road trip. Which could be a good thing considering the way we have played at home this season. This road trip is a real test to see if we're going to stay in the hunt. We can't afford to have another bad road trip at this point in the season. This road trip is a make or break trip for this team early.
