Hypothetically, the Dodgers are ready and willing to make this deal right now. They're only waiting for your approval.
Reds give: Homer Bailey Juan Castro Javier Valentin
Dodgers give: Clayton Kershaw
Do you take?

Reds give: Homer Bailey Juan Castro Javier Valentin Dodgers give: Clayton Kershaw Do you take? In a heartbeat. Kershaw is the lefty the Reds are dying for, has just as much upside as Bailey, and is not quite such a collasal prick personality wise. I don't know why the Dodgers would do it, but it'd be done in a heartbeat for me. They'll have to wait until next year more than likely, but it'd be worth the wait. The Reds 2009 rotation (after trading Arroyo) Harang, RHP Cueto, RHP Volquez, RHP Kershaw, LHP Thompson, RHP And the Reds would still have Lotzkar, Jordan Smith, and potentially the 2008 #7 pick as quality arms in the minors at 3 different levels. 2012 25 man for the World Sereis Champion Reds: 1. Drew Stubbs, CF 2. Jeff Keppinger, SS 3. Jay Bruce, RF 4. Todd Frazier, LF 5. Joe Votto, 1B 6. Brandon Phillips. 2B 7. Juan Francisco, 3B 8. Devin Mesoraco, C Bench: Chris Valaika (Util), Justin Turner (2B/SS), Craig Tatum (C), Brandon Waring (3B/1B/LF/RF), Keltavious Jones (CF/OF) Rotation: Johnny Cueto, RHP Clayton Kershaw, LHP Edison Volquez, RHP Christian Friedrich, LHP Daryl Thompson, RHP Bullpen: LR: Ramon Ramierez, RHP MR: Phil Valiquette, LHP MR: Bill Bray, LHP MR: Jeff Jeffords, RHP MR: Pedro Viola, LHP SU: Josh Roenicke, RHP CL: Jared Burton, RHP

Well, the reason that I made the hypothetical situation is that I saw the Dodgers are actually interested in Juan Castro (why? lol) and Javy seems rather upset that he's gone. Also, both teams get big-name pitching prospects, the difference being that Kershaw is a lefty.
I don't think the Dodgers would offer. But if they did, I'd take, too.

I'd throw in Matt Maloney and Dan Dorn if it would help seal the deal.
Dodgers get: Homer Bailey Matt Maloney Dan Dorn Juan Castro Javier Valentin
Reds Get: Clayton Kershaw
I'd throw in a B+ prospect instead of Dorn if I had too, maybe Valaika or Turner.

LOL if we didn't accept that trade, we'd be crazy. Let the Dodgers eat the money owed to them; both are bums.

If the Dodgers would approve that trade, we would be foolish to not do it. Clayton Kershaw is gonna be a star if he stays healthy. Homer may be also, but we sure need the lefty, and we unload useless roster garbage. I would include more, like Duke suggested, to finish that trade.
