I've been as optomistic as the next person, perhaps even more. But having watched the last five games I can't take it anymore! So this might be my goodbye letter. haha
Someone please tell me WTF has happend to this team! They act like there just going through the motions out there. The only problem with that is were just 15 games into the season. I'm not asking for much, but could someone on that team please act like they give a F-ck! Josh Fogg, hit the Fin skids and take todd "the gas can" coffey with you. Someone tell adam dunn that he can swing the bat with risp, and not just when were down 11 -2. And last but not least "I never thought id say this" but Griffey and Phillips who the H-ll do you think you are out there! You dont have to swing for the fences every pitch, heaven forbid you hit the ball the other way!
Im sorry all for this tasteless rant, but I just can't take it this early in the season. I'm usually ready by july to handle such heartbreak, not in april. But is anyone else frustrated? Someone give me some hope! hAHa

Add an offensive slump to Josh Fogg and you see what you get.
The offense will recover. The pitching will be better once Fogg is gone, we may not win anything, but we'll play better than this all year.

Fogg is clearly not what we had hoped, so I look forward to seeing Belisle earn that juicy contract he got. Well, I don't look forward to it, but I expect it with mild, carefully restrained anticipation.

But I do want them to compete and play hard. As far as fogg I chose not to aknowledge thats he's even on this team. haha

It's just hard to understand how we can look so good against the DBakcs and Brewers and then get dismantled by the Pirates and and have been falling apart.
At least Voltron is pitching today.

Only 3 runs on 10 hits and 2 walks. Runners LoB continue to be a problem for the Reds.

Well, I'm fine. I was never deluded that this team was any good.
Still, I have to confess that so far, the Reds are even worse than I expected.
But don't jump, starting next year, there is a very, very bright future for this team.

several reasons to not jump; - Dunn will again hit home runs. - Encarnacion will again hit. - Arroyo will win his share. - Cordero will save games - and.......it's awful early. You can always jump on May 29th if we get swept by the Pirates again.

Agreed. Jumping not recommended until at least the usual point in mid-May or July.

I just cant belive how many of you get bumed out so early.
maybe ESPN board wasnt the problem because the constant negativity is over here also just not being said in a annoying way. Still here though which at 7-9 and being so negative is sad.
I hope you guys can take a deep inhale and remember you cant make assumptions about the season at least till the end of May or when your 10 games out.

I hope you guys can take a deep inhale and remember you cant make assumptions about the season at least till the end of May or when your 10 games out. I don't have any objections to criticism of the Reds, but that's not the same as rampant negativity and complaining, which is what exists on the ESPN board. The board will be fine as long as people don't turn to not stop negativity and complaining. However, critical opinions are of value, as a message board that is all rainbows and smiles isn't going to generate much interesting discussion. If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say the frustration stems from the lather-rinse-repeat nature of our existence as Reds fans. It's not just that the team is struggling, but rather that they are struggling the same way they always do. Edwin is still inconsistent with the bat and glove, Coffey still stinks, the offense is still of the all or nothing variety, etc, etc, etc. It's got the flavor of the same old, same old. I'm actually not all that stressed at this point, but it is certainly a bit frustrating. I'm still very hopeful that the young starting pitching can be a difference maker this year. In addition, I'm hoping Baker will just plug Votto in at first full-time, as this team would be all the better for it. If the Reds don't get it done this year, then it's time to bid adieu to both Griffey and Dunn so we can truly overhaul the everyday lineup and create a different style attack and defense. It's way to early to get discouraged, but given how passionate everyone is about the Reds, a bit of frustration is not unexpected.

I'm not too worried yet, but when the Reds are doing things the other way than what appears the obvious, it can get frustrating. Playing Votto, giving Hopper more starts in CF, and things of that nature is when it gets frustrating now when they don't do those things. And if I just wanted all sunshine and rainbows then i'd just listen to the FSN announcers all the time.

I don't know about jumping off ledges--I think I'd need another stack of midterms to go along with a Reds slump--but I usually start shuffling in the 1975 World Series discs when the team hits ten games below .500. Under the right (unspecified) circumstances, the seasons begin gently to blend together, the pain subsides, an anaesthetic effect...

Fear not, Reds fans. Better days are ahead of us.
In the past, if we had an early season collapse it might be legit to fear. However, this season it is our pitching that is carrying us and our hitting that is letting us down. The hitting will warm up.
Not only that, but our outlook for the future has not been so bright since the days before Margie.
These are good days to be a Reds fan. Stay off the ledge and you'll still be around to see the best.
