I know that I should not have been on the Espn board, it might be like a sin on here. But they were talking about a trade including dunn arroyo and ee for blalock and saltalmachia. I am just wondering if this has any truth to it at all. I do not know what I feel about it just wondering.

Of course, it goes without saying that everyone is free to post in both places. I don't have any animosity towards that board or anyone on it. We just had to make a change because it wasn't fun other there anymore. As for the trade rumor, I haven't heard it, but I doubt it's going to happen. First off, I think we're giving up way too much vaalue. Second, I don't think we can afford to move Arroyo or give up the right-handed Edwin for a left-handed replacement. I love Salty, but this one seems like a no go to me.

I was thinking the same thing. I do not think we have enough pitching to do that move. It would help us with the sticks and third base alot. However, gettinf rid of dunn and arroyo would seem like too much.

I don't know, Belisle is about back and he can possibly match Arroyo's production in the rotation, Blalock would replace EE, the departure of Dunn should mean the promotion of Bruce, and Bako is already a LH catcher so we would replace one with another. Not sure if I would do it, but it is interesting, and frankly I doubt that Texas would do that deal.

That'd be a horrible trade for us. Salty's too d-mn big to play Catcher for much longer. I might not mind it so much in the offseason when we could find a replacement at SP. If we did that trade now, we'd be lucky to win 70 games.

That sounds all kinds of horrible.
I wouldn't mind Salty at all, but to have to take on Blalock to get him would be unacceptable.

Interesting trade. Rangers need to add Elvis Andrus and a pitching prospect like Eric Hurley to the deal.
Someone here implied that Salty is a LH hitter; he's a switch hitter, which aleviates any concern with the line-up being too lefthanded.

A trade I would really like to see for a catcher would hinge on the O's being in it at the trade deadline.
Reds get: Matt Wieters, C
Orioles get: Adam Dunn, LF/DH Bronson Arroyo, SP Devin Mesoraco, C Adam Rosales, Util
Wieters is a flat out stud at the plate and is he is above average defesnively, plus he is still in AA so he is controllable, and should start 2009 in the bigs. Belisle can replace Arroyo's production for the Reds in 2008 and Thompson should be ready for 2009.
The O's would get a big time bat in Dunn, a quality back of the rotation starter for them in Arroyo, a replacement legit C prospect in Mesoraco (who will be in the org 1 year in June, thus tradable) and a good utility bat for the bench for teh future in Rosales.
O's lineup for the rest of 2007:
1. Brain Roberts, 2B 2. Luke Scott, LF 3. Nick Markakis, RF 4. Kevin Millar, 1B 5. Adam Dunn, DH 6. Melvin Mora, 3B 7. Ramon Hernandez, C 8. Adam Jones, CF 9. Luis Hernandez, SS
With a rotation of: Jeremy Guthrie Steve Trachsel Daniel Cabrera Bronson Arroyo Brian Burres
and the Reds in 2009 could have a lineup of:
1. Norris Hopper, CF 2. Jeff Keppinger, SS 3. Ken Griffey Jr, LF/RF 4. Brandon Phillips, 2B 5. Joe Votto, 1B 6. Edwin Encarnacion, 3B 7. Jay Bruce, RF/LF 8. Matt Wieters, C
With a pitchng staff of: Aaron Harang Johnny Cueto Edison Volquez Homer Bailey Daryl Thompson
And I would be pretty excited for the 2010 lineup:
1. Drew Stubbs, CF 2. Jeff Keppinger, SS 3. Jay Bruce, RF 4. Brandon Phillips, 2B 5. Joe Votto, 1B 6. Matt Wieters, C 7. Todd Frazier, LF 8. Juan Francisco, 3B

Wieters is a stud, but there's absolutely no way the O's are in the race in July. They're going to sell and sell like crazy beginning in June probably.
