Didn't look good today, how the hell does Lohse throw that performance together? Then again, he did the same thing last year for us.
More importantly, Akiel unfortunately is starting out with legit power. I'm a bit worried, I was a big doubter of him coming into the season due to HGH etc...but if this power is legit then the Cards can't be counted out this season.

Then again, he did the same thing last year for us I think a number of us thought it would be good if we could keep Lohse. The problem was he wanted way too much money. It won't surprise me if he finally finds himself (sort of like it won't surprise me if Volquez does).

Well right now I'm fine with not having Lohse, but he definitely could get it together in St. Louis which makes it unfortunate since he's within our division.

I was going to make a post about Lohse but didn't.
Here is a question for you.
Patterson is making 3M and Fogg is making 1M..I think Lohse signed for 4.25M
Would you rather have Lohse/Hopper or Bruce or Fogg/Patterson??
Here is what it would look like with Lohse.
Rotation of Harang - Arroyo - Cueto - Volquez - Lohse
Lineup of Hopper/Bruce Keppinger Griffey Phillips Dunn Edwin Hatteberg/Votto Ross/Valentin/Bako

Lohse wanted a lot more money and I don't think he would have signed with the Reds for 4.25M. However, I would definitely have preferred him to Fogg, even if it meant we couldn't have Patterson. I have no real objection to Patterson. It's just that I'd give up Hamilton for a solid pitcher and I'd give up Patterson for one, too. It's a risk in both cases because there was no clear evidence (and still isn't) that either Volquez or Lohse will be a solid pitcher this season.

This is the yearly Lohse tease. Come August his stats will look the back of his baseball card.

I think Freel would have gotten the nod over Hopper. Still, in that case I'd still prefer Fogg and Patterson. I like Patterson, and I think Fogg is just as good if not better than Lohse. He deserves a few more starts, but he's still solid IMO.

I agree we need to get Fogg a few more chances. It was one start AND it was against a great hitting team + he had to wait a hour and half to start the game cause of the rain delay.

This is why Lohse doesn't play for us anymore. He has awesome stuff with a minor league head. He's too inconsistent to be reliable. Better off letting the Cards have his pros cause they will also have to deal with his cons later.
Anyway, our rotation excites me plenty without him.
