The Reds season is probably about to come to an end, but props to them for making it such an exciting one.
I'm loving a 3rd wildcard spot. What do y'all think? Wouldn't want any more playoffs teams than this, but I think this is the sweet spot.
Only real disadvantage is that post season is too hard to remember with so many games. It's fun in the moment though.

This is what I was speaking of earlier in the game thread with curbinman about. 101 pitches for our SP to get through 5. Their guy is at 64 through 5. Our SP has to be more efficient and go deeper.

Hunter needs to trust his stuff more. When he’s on he’s unhittable. If he nibbles he throws way to many pitches. You are old enough to remember, I think what would help the Reds and the young pitchers moving forward is go back to 60s 70s baseball and train relievers to throw multiple innings. Remember when guys like Bruce Sutter and Rollie fingers would throw 3 innings? We need to shorten these games. If the 7 or 8 inning starters are a thing of the past, we need to reinvent the multiple inning relievers even if that means converting a few starters into relievers that can throw 120 innings.

Welp, it's been a fun ride. Reds couldn't quite get it done, but it's a very promising squad. The future is bright.

Always will remember the blown 9 to 0 game against the Pirates which basically cost the Reds any chance at a wildcard spot.

Ya pretty much. They weren't quite ready to compete in the post season anyway. Need to shore up their starting pitching.
Too bad Votto was ejected to early his probable last game.

Always will remember the blown 9 to 0 game against the Pirates which basically cost the Reds any chance at a wildcard spot. Already forgotten it. The Reds weren’t ready for prime time yet. But the experience imo is invaluable. Another thing that tells you the future is bright. Greene and Lodolo were a combined 6-8 and we didn’t get eliminated until game 161. That in itself it’s nuts. If the so called big 3 are healthy for most of 162 games each the Reds could make some serious noise next year. Braves and Dodgers will still be the favorites but I firmly believe the Reds will be the3rd best team. There are still “ifs” that have to happen to make that happen but I think it will happen. And put a team in a short series and stupid things can happen.

Lol. I’ve been out of town a couple days so I haven’t been on here. Not 1 post from you when the reds were sweeping the Angels not 1. But when the reds lose you’re here with a library of things to say. I find that telling and interesting. As far as the Reds go, it’s a young team doing young team things. I never really expected them to make the playoffs this year. I hope they do, but I don’t expect it. India the obvious heart and soul is out. Farley who had been the most clutch guy is out, as soon as they both went down is when the offense stagnated, However, it seems every time I count them out this year, they scrap back. I do think they will compete next year and moving forward for the next few years. Krall has proven to be great at trades when he is trading for prospects. It’s a whole other story though, adding to an existing contender. Especially with a tight fisted ownership group. So we will see if ownership will let him do his job. Even with Votto’s contract coming off the books my gut says no. Hopefully I’m wrong. Dude, we swept a team that has lost like 16 of 20 games. Is that noteworthy? Arizona is not some juggernaut. Wouldn't even be over .500 if not for their recent streak (of course neither would we if not our streak earlier in the year). Hope it doesn't happen, but look for Greene to go back on IR. Lodolo out for most of the year. We better go ahead and sign him to a long term deal. We make the record books...for everyone else. Dude gets his 1st major league win...versus the Reds. We get a guy tonight with a +7 ERA. Will we do any better against him. "Wait til next year" Man, hope springs eternal, no? I'm more inclined to look at this franchises as a line out of a Garth Brooks song..."If tomorrow never comes." But hey, I got to see the glory years...75 and 76...and the wire to wire finish in 90. I'll never live to see another Reds World Series championship, though. lol
