If you want to actually know what happened, watch the video. If you like your daydream scenario, I wouldn't watch it. It is damning to trying to impeach Trump.

With respect to political discourse, YouTube, facebook, and twitter are a cesspool of disinformation, false facts, and conspiracy theories, so I'll pass on some random JoeBob's take on the situation, unless you want to explain why his opinion is worth considering. "Playing into Trump's trap" makes it sound like Trump is a mastermind utilizing a coherent strategy. He's not. He's a bomb thrower who knows how to suck up all the oxygen in the news cycle and inflame his base. The Trump administration is massively concerned about impeachment over this, as evidenced by their original action to change the standard handling procedures for the transcript of the phone call and their sudden willingness, after the drumbeat for impeachment increased, to now disclose a version of the phone call transcript and the whistleblower report.

Because he actually cites facts, actual news from reliable sources. He is bipartisan. He is not anti-Democrat, but rather a truth seeker. Trumps administration is not fearing anything. Matter of fact, the crazy ass Democratic party and their non-stop obsessive compulsive behavior is only making Trump stronger. There are more and more African Americans joining the side of Trump. Mexican-Americans speaking out in support of Trump. Borderline democrats switching sides. Trump will not get impeached, and he will probably win the 2020 campaign by perhaps a record setting landslide.

So, let's talk about facts and let's take the conversation up to a more general level so that we can discuss the issue separate from any political leanings. From the transcript and whistleblower report, it's clear that the President of the United States called the leader of a foreign country to directly ask that country to launch an investigation into a specific political rival of the President. Do you feel that that is an appropriate act by a U.S. President, regardless of whether he is a Democrat or Republican?

From the transcript and whistleblower report, it's clear that the President of the United States called the leader of a foreign country to directly ask that country to launch an investigation into a specific political rival of the President. Do you feel that that is an appropriate act by a U.S. President, regardless of whether he is a Democrat or Republican? 1. From the transcript, no, it does not appear that Trump made this call to directly talk to the Ukraine leader regarding Biden. The conversation kind of morphed into that a little bit, but partly due to the direction of the Ukraine leader. 2. The Ukraine president ran on a platform of ending corruption within his country, and re-stablizing his government for the people of Ukraine. Therefore, when discussing political aspirations with another foreign leader who also ran on the same platform and is doing a great job with washing DC of corruption, yes, I think that is a natural topic in a conversation. 3. As Nancy Pulosi says, no one is above the law. So given what Biden has been on record of saying, and it took place in the Ukraine, our President saying, perhaps that is something you may want to look into on your part to the Ukraine leader isn't out of line. He didn't ask him to dig up dirt. He didn't say we would withhold any kind of aid to your country unless you do. He simple said, that seems suspicious and you should check into that. If it leads to nothing, so be it. If it does then that is on Biden and his illegal actions. Trump is not asking him to give him some dirt on Biden and he is not telling him how he should go about it, but if that is something of interest to him, he should check into it, because it does seem suspicious and this new President of Ukraine is adamant about weeding out corruption. Because Biden is one of MANY political rivals of Trump, does not mean he should not be investigated by the Ukraine for his potential role in corruption. Trump has many political rivals in Washington, some Republican, so because one of them does something wrong, they should be investigated. Trump is not even getting America involved in the investigation of Biden. He is just telling a foreign leader, if you find this as suspicious as he does, he should check into it, because it appears there may be corruption there.

I honestly find it no real different than the democrats constantly running the same thing up the tree multiple times after its been proven that nothing was done.
Four years of impeachment talk with it being this didn't amount to anything ok lets try this now for it is enough. A high majority of these politicans should be removed from office for wasting the tax payers time.

?? Donnie even admitted it. Right now he's unhinged. Spouted off saying the whistleblower and those that spoke with him are spies and should be executed. I mean, not sure how anyone can condone this.

?? Donnie even admitted it. Right now he's unhinged. Spouted off saying the whistle blower and those that spoke with him are spies and should be executed. I mean, not sure how anyone can condone this. What other countries leader allows people to get away with what the Democrats have tried to do for the last 4 years? Most of this opposition gets whacked in other countries. Thank God we are in America, where we have the right to free speech, but we don't have the right to slander the leader of our country, to cause drastic affects on our economy without consequence. If the sole purpose of these reports is just to try and get Trump impeached instead of seeking true justice, which it is not, the whistle blower should be punished to the full extent of the law. As it sits, it appears that whistle blower was wrong in his accusations, he read into things and changed the narrative that suited his situation best. They deserve to be tried for treason. I agree with this.

trump's done. won't be able to squirm his way out of this one. The truly stunning thing about the Trump Presidency is that there are so many people who continue to support it. I understand that he rode a wave of anger and frustration into the White House. There was a large percentage (and one that is continuing to increase) of people who felt left behind in the current economy, so they reached out to support someone who was promising change. That explains his election, but what explains the continuing support in light of clear misconduct and ineptitude? It quite clearly can't be the results. What tangible changes has Trump made that actually impact the lives of his supporters? That extra two dollars per pay period from the tax cut? All the massive benefits reaped by the consumers as a result of the trade war? Keeping out immigrants? These things are too small and too far removed to be truly felt by his supporters. The disturbing reality is that everything is now detached from reality. There is an alternate reality that has been created to spin his performance, however, incompetent, into something admirable and worthy of support. It has nothing to do with Trump's actual performance, it has to do with the propaganda that assures people that Trump is performing well and "fighting the good fight." The propaganda that makes his supporters feel like they are winning and, maybe more importantly, that the other side is losing. Roger Ebert once wrote the following in his review of the western Open Range: Sadly, that statement feels staggeringly true, on a broader level, for our current society and culture. I don't know how we lost our shared sense of values, but it undoubtedly has something to do with the fraying of our bases for news and information. It started with Rupert Murdoch and Fox News, but has now evolved and extended into the social media platforms. These alt-facts have spread like a virus throughout the country, infecting people and their political views to a staggering degree. So much so that the country can no longer look at a straightforward situation where the President of the United States is asking a foreign leader to investigate a leading political rival and universally agree that it is both improper and antithetical to our democracy. Trump is so obviously and unequivocally unfit and unqualified to be President of the United States, that to think otherwise requires a combination of alt-facts, an alienation caused by feeling left behind by both the economy and cultural progress, and a desire to "win" at any cost. This is the moment we are in and unless it changes it may be the undoing of our system of government. There is an article that I will be posting in a separate thread on a professor's theory on the inevitable end of democracy. Here is a quote from it: We need to be better than this. We have no choice. Country has to come before party. We can't survive if it doesn't.

He won the White House due to 80,000 votes in three midwestern states and the fbi director throwing the other candidate under the bus two weeks before the election. Odds of that happening again are microscopic.

St. Louis Post Dispatch's editorial board pens article about the hard truth and calls for Trump to step down: www.stltoday.com/opinion/editorial/editorial-trump-is-exhausting-the-nation-s-and-his-party/article_42f06c92-e445-5fcf-98be-dee8bf25d7f3.htmlEditorial: Trump is exhausting the nation's and his party's patience. Time to dump him.By the Editorial Board Sep 25, 2019 Try as Republicans will to distract the American public and label the impeachment inquiry a witch hunt, there is no escaping the hard truth that President Donald Trump solicited help from a foreign leader for his 2020 campaign, an act that U.S. law specifically forbids. Republican leaders in Congress find themselves, once again, scrambling furiously to concoct a believable defense for a man whose conduct is indefensible. Trump’s recklessness and divisiveness is exhausting the nation’s patience. How far will GOP leaders in Congress allow Trump to drag this country down before they stand in defense of the Constitution? Make no mistake: There’s a troubling coincidence between former Vice President Joe Biden’s intervention in 2014 to urge the ouster of Ukraine’s chief prosecutor and son Hunter Biden’s appointment to the board of a gas company owned by a corrupt, Russia-friendly Ukrainian oligarch. Hunter Biden received upwards of $50,000 a month in that role, a shocking change of fortunes for someone who had just been dismissed from the Navy Reserve after testing positive for cocaine. If Joe Biden was involved in illegality, let the Justice Department initiate an investigation and follow leads. But so far, five years after those developments, investigators seem not to have uncovered prosecutable violations. Trump had no apparent authority to launch his independent corruption probe and bring in his personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani, to follow up with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskiy. Trump — who has paid off a porn star, bragged about sexually abusing women and openly urged Russia to meddle in the 2016 presidential campaign — ranks as the most corrupt U.S. president since Richard Nixon. Trump was on a singular mission in the July 25 phone call with Zelenskiy: to dig up dirt on Biden, his likely rival in the 2020 presidential race. The fact that he brought Giuliani into the conversation underscores that this had nothing to do with Trump’s executive authority and everything to do with his political campaign. Juxtaposed with Trump’s inexplicable decision before July to suspend nearly $400 million in aid to Ukraine, there is more than ample justification for the House of Representatives to proceed with its impeachment inquiry. In the transcript released Wednesday, Zelenskiy raised his country’s military-assistance needs. Trump invoked the word “reciprocal” and immediately asked Zelenskiy “to do us a favor” by helping investigate Joe Biden and his son. Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., accurately labeled the exchange a “classic, Mafia-like shakedown of a foreign country.” How far must a president go in betraying his country before Republicans finally declare that he no longer represents their values? How much crisis, chaos and scandal can Republicans, exhausted from constantly defending him, tolerate before they decide enough’s enough? The time has come for Republicans to stand up for the Constitution, stand up for America, and tell Trump to step down.
