I actually read a fantasy novel about a guy that travels back in time to play with the 1869 team. So I at least had some familiarity with the players on that team. The first clue had me looking for someone that played with Ray Chapman though Yeah, Creighton's death started a public discussion about baseball's safety that never went away entirely, even down to the early 1900s. A New York newspaper article suggested in the 1880s that you could calculate baseball's demise as a business from the drop in hospital admissions...
