Cuerto is awesome!!
But, being a Reds fan 20 plus years I'm scared.
I know our track record.
Can a 5' 10'' 185 lb kid throw 94-96 over 180- 200 innings without major arm trouble or is he a Liriano waiting to happen?
Someone put my mind to ease..................

Well, at this point, we don't have any reason to suspect otherwise. He cruised through ~200 innings last year over three different levels and winter ball without incident. If the Reds manage his workload and give him extra rest here and there, then he should be as good a bet as any to stay healthy.
Not every Reds pitching prospect turns out to be Ty Howington and not every offensive player turns out to be Brandon Larson.
It's not easy to change the mindset or culture of an organization and fan base, but things are different in Cincy these days. We are developing talent and it is starting to bear fruit.
Injuries can strike any pitcher at any time, but for now let's just hope for the best.

I don't know if Soto is the best example. Injuries ended his career a little early. Still, I'll hope for the best........... A little closer to home Mario Soto!

Well still from '80-'85 6 years he was spectacular! I would take 6 years from Cueto anyday.
And if Cueto would ave 190 innings, 212 k's and a sub 3 era for us for 6 straight years then ya he is exactly what we need. But after that time he may become way way to much to afford like a santana.

Pedro Martinez has had a fine career regardless of his size....
He's obviously slowed now, but don't tell me you'd be upset if we developed a pitcher just like Pedro....

And it's actually a half-way legit comparison (as opposed to Homer's comparison to Roger Clemens....yeah right.) I hope Cueto has half of the success that Pedro has. Even that is a tremendous step forward.

Cueto has yet to ever have any arm troubles in his career, and he showed good endurance last year so I am pretty hopeful that his arm holds up over the season.
