Itd be real nice to turn him into something, or at least a minimal trade so we don't have to eat his contract. That would mean more than one team were interested in Stanton and I have a hard time imagining that one. If only the Phillies were interested in him than they would just wait until we had to release him and then sign him.

But technically, if they sign him we are not responsible for his contract anymore, isn't that right? At any rate, it's worth paying that kinda cash just to take him off the team.

Even if someone signs him we still owe him the amount of his contract. Plus next years buyout.
So really about 4mil
If we can do any type of trade with someone for anyone, even s 36yr old long reliver in single A then it needs done so we dont have to pay the 4mil. If we have to pay all but 100k of his salary to get a team to take him it is worth it lol 100k saved is a 100k saved.
Stanton will probaley have a good year where ever he ends with a 4.5era or so because in the past when he is dumped by a team and a new team picks him up and he is a free agent at the end of the year somehow he gets lucky and puts together a solid year to assure himself 2-3mil in a new contract that off season. We feel victum to this.
