Reds 5th round draft pick Clayton Shunick is the SP for North Carolina State and will be starting today against Georgia. So if anybody want to see one of Reds draft picks here is your chance.

Damn, i'm at work and won't be home until 4 pm, if anyone can watch, please do so, i'd love to see how far up the gun he hits, what his secondary pitches look like, what kind of command and mound presence he has, if he gets flustered or not, and all the little nuances.

Caught him warming up in the pen a little bit. His delivery looks pretty tight. Nothing outlandish about it. Looks like he uses his momentum pretty well.

Nice double play just turned by Gordon Beckham. Georgia bats and our boy comes in to pitch here in a few.

"great command of his fastball and a good change" quote from Brian Jordan, one of the announcers.

Strikes out the first batter in 3 pitches on what appeared to be a pair of fastballs and a nice slider.

Mid to high 70s curve ball that he's locating on the outside corner pretty well.

Nice, sounds like he uses 4 pitches (Fastball, changeup, slider, curveball), which is a very good thing.
What kind of velocity does he have on each pitch, specifically his fastball and changeup since those should be using the exact same arm action?

I probably wasnt watching closely enough but he doesnt throw extremely hard, i think his fastball may top in mid 80's i will watch more closely next inning

Yeah it looked like his fastball was right around 86-88. I'm actually not sure I saw a changeup that inning.

I saw a scouting video on him and his fastball sat in the 88-91 range. Of course, he could have more in tank than he did that day, but he doesn't seem like a high velocity guy.

Right Lark. Brian Jordan said he's a control guy, which isn't all too bad. Harang's the same way but with just a little more heat.

90 MPH fastball to lead off the inning.
