Who will open the minor league season for each level?
Opening days: Low A Dayton: 4/3 - Kyle Lotzkar High A Sarasota: 4/5 - Raphael Gonzales AA Chattanooga: 4/3 - Daryll Thompson AAA Louisville: 4/11 - Homer Bailey
That's what I think it should shake out like, but its hard to tell with minor leagues. Low A could easily be Carrol or Ravin as well, but i'd go with the high round pick from last year. I think Thompson and Bailey have AA and AAA pretty much wrapped up.

I agree with the above and love our farm system depth. Hope we can continue to add more and more prospects.

Personally, I think Rafael Gonzalez is done as a bona fide prospect. I'd prefer to see Ravin get the nod at Low A, but there isn't much argument to be made after his 2007 debacle. Is Thompson really the best we have at AA? At this point, I think Homer should be in AAA until September. He needs the work and a big bite of a reality sandwich.

AA is pretty thin. Off the top of my head I think they have Thompson, Smit, Jukich as their best 3 SP.
Gonzales faded last year, but part of that was he was out of shape. If he has conditioned himself better he has the stuff, so i'm not ready to write him off yet.
Totally agree with Homer. Learn the slider and the changeup, perfect them, hone his command. Spend all year if neccessary.

If we're going strictly by talent, I like your list Duke.
However, Jukich pitched really well for Sarasota down the stretch last year. Unless he's injured, I see him getting the nod in Chattanooga.

I dont know if Lotzkar will start in Dayton (any articles saying anything about him lately, im a big fan) he is only like 18 or 19 still so Low-A still might even be a stretch this soon

I know Lotzkar saw time in low rookie on the GCL Reds and had a few starts with the high rookie Billings team so that is why I think he gets the start in Dayton this year.

Lotzkar will start in Dayton
Gonzo has plus stuff but a 2 cent brain at the moment. I think he has a shot but this has to be a breakout year IMO. If not move him into the pen and tell him to only work on two piches

I saw Gonzo pitch live last year and he had a great game that time, so I am hesitant to be as down on him yet, but he needs another good start, and to sustain that success throughout the year.

This is the thing that baffles me about Rafael Gonzalez. What has he ever done to warrant people being high on him in the first place? Over the years, I've been baffled by his BA Prospect Rankings and been waiting and waiting to see ANYTHING out of him to justify the ranking, but it just never happens. He seems like all hype to me and I'm not sure the hype was ever warranted in the first place.

The game I saw him pitch he was dominant. Something like 7 IP and 8 K's, 0 Er and only a few hits.
