How do HS catchers usually progress? Is it typically slowly? I thought catchers (especially HS catchers) usually do go pretty slowly. Of course it all varries on the person and how they preform, but when is a rough ETA for him.

If Mesoraco can do a level a year for a couple years, i'd be pretty happy.
2008: Low A 2009: High A 2010: AA/AAA 2011: AAA/Majors

Mauer was drafted in 2001 and got called up in 2004. Martin was drafted in 2002 as a 3rd baseman but still made it up in 2006.
Just some comparisons albeit lofty ones.

Valaika is getting hot in AA finally. 2 for 4 tonight with 2 rbi, he is hitting .308 over his last ten and has had 3 straight multi-hit games.

Mesoraco hits his 3rd home run in Dayton, and is now batting 4th in Dayton.

A: Does Mesoraco have the ability to steal bases like Martin?
B: How does his swing look? Quick, slow?
C: Is his defense progressing as quickly as his offense? Throwing out a good percentage of runners?
D: Could we see him in high A soon if he keeps hitting or do you think we'll slow play him?

Yes, he only has 1 right now, but 15-20 steals in a season is very much a thing Mesorco can do, he runs better than most catchers. B. Haven't seen his swing yet C. Defense is what will keep him in Low A all year, but the arm is plus plus, and the coaches in EST were raving about how well he is picking up game calling and blocking balls already. He isn't throwing out a ton of runners yet, but a big part of that is that most of the Low A Pitchers are terrible at holding runners back, I saw this twice so far earlier this year. The intelligence he has behind the plate is the biggest thing that makes me think he could top out like a Russell Martin. D. I highly doubt we see him in High A this year unless he pulls a Jay Bruce and hits .360. I tihkn we slow play him this year and next year, and then have no limits on him in 2010 when he starts the year in AA. Pure speculation by me, but that is the impression I have felt from reading up on reports online where I can find them.
