Maloney gets the start today for the Bats. Each of his last 4 starts have been a quality start, and on the year he is 5-2 with a 4.28 ERA. Another few good outings without a hiccup and I think he could get a callup for Belisle.

Through 2 IP Bats lead 1-0
Matt Maloney 2 IP 2 hits 0 BB 0 K 0 runs 29 pitches, 20 strikes 2 groundouts, 4 flyouts
The second hit could have very well been an error on Gil, but they ruled it a hit.

Not a great 3rd inning by Maloney, but not terrible. Bats down 2-1.
Matt Maloney 3 IP 4 hits 1 BB 3 K 2 runs 54 Pitches, 35 strikes 2 groundouts, 4 flyouts
Worth noting that the 2 rbi 2B was with 2 outs and earlier in the inning the walk had the 3rd ball called on a pitch that most thought to be a strike. had that happened, he may have gotten out of the inning unscathed, but it did happen.

After 4 Bats down 2-1 Matt Maloney 4 IP 4 hits 2 BB 2 runs 5 Ks 68 pitches, 44 strikes 3 groundouts, 4 flyouts I'm an IT/Systems/DB Analyst so i'm in front of the CPU nearly my entire time at work (6 am to 5:30 pm today) so the headphones are on listening to the Bats with the box score on one of my two monitors, and on the other I am doing some SQL Server maintenance and setting something up on our Memphis Server via Remote Desktop. I love my job.

Tied 2-2 after 6. Maloney hit a leadoff 2B and scored the tying run.
Matt Maloney 6 IP 4 hits 3 BB 2 runs 5 Ks 89 Pitches, 54 Strikes 7 groundouts, 6 flyouts
I think he'll go one more inning, hopefully the Bats can get another run and get him in position for a win.

After 7, still tied 2-2
Maloney with another strong outing, his 5th quality start in a row, 4th out of last 5 he has gone at least 7
Matt Maloney 7 IP 4 hits 3 BB 2 runs 5 Ks 10 groundouts, 6 flyouts 100 pitches, 62 strikes
A few too many balls thrown, other than that he was very very good.

Bats score 2 in the top of the 8th on a Green BB, Rosales 3B and a Cabrera single. maloney is in position to get the win if the pen can close out the last two innings.

After 8 Bats up 4-3.
Coffey tried to blow the lead, but was pulled after 1/3 of an inning with 2 still on after giving up 1 run and Hererra comes in and gets the 2 outs with 1 BB and saves his ass.
Herrera threw screwballs, curveballs, changeups, and sliders. He didn't throw one fastball. This guy sounds like a master junk baller.

Hererra stayed in and gave up a 2B, but that was it and he gets the save over 12/3 IP. Hererra's one walk in the 8th was intentional. He finished with 2 Ks.
Maloney now 6-2 with a 4.09 ERA and 5 quality starts in a row.
