No. He was a little older than Elvis in 1961.

Think Reds history.
And think old.

Okay, I don't know how many of the 1919 Reds were still alive in 1961. Roush?

Great guess but no. Roush passed away in 1988.
This player was known primarily for playing CF. He did not play with Roush.

I have been waiting..one more day and I will answer. Don't be a dummy. Was this supposed to be an extreme giveaway, with the answer being "Dummy" Hoy?

At age 99, Dummy Hoy was offered to throw out the first pitch of the 1961 WS in Yankee Stadium in celebration of his upcoming centennary. He declined and opted to instead throw out the first pitch at Crosley for his beloved Reds. After baseball, Hoy was a dairy farmer in the Cincinnati Reds and then a manager for Goodyear. He was greeted with an uproarious standing ovation. Sadly, he died of a stroke before reaching his 100th birthday. dmbworldseriesreplay.wordpress.com/2010/03/08/more-on-dummy-hoy/
