Any Bengals fans going to watch part of the draft tomorrow?
Either Sedrick Ellis falls to the bengals at #9 or take Rashard Mendenhall there and cut Rudi. None of the LB's of dlinemen are worth that pick (assuming that Chris Long, Vernon Gholston, Glenn Dorsey, and Sedrick Ellis are all gone), no scondary player is worth it there and thats not the problem (the front 7 is) and I think Mendenhall would thrive in the Bengals no huddle.

I'm OK with Rivers, albeit not thrilled. I wonder why Mendenhall fell all the way to 23? He must be dumb as a box of rocks or something.

Matt freaking Ryan. Kill me. Falcons fan? Sorry buddy, i'm about convinced that in ten years the first word that comes to mind when you hear Matt Ryan is "journeyman" On the whole I liked the Bengals draft. It paves the way to trade Nancy Johnson after June 1st so the cap hit can be spread out over two years and for future picks. Rivers will be a good MLB, a Mike Peterson type, Sims will be a good DT for the rotation, and if Shirley ins't drunk he can be a force.

The words I think we'll associate Matt Ryan with in 10 years are somewhat his namesake.....
Ryan Leaf.
Ugh.

Matt Ryan will be at the same point in his career that David Carr is at right now.

I just can't approve of drafting 3 receivers...I realize it needed to be addressed, but Simpson was not a second round caliber pick and we should have focused on better defensive picks that early in the draft. I do like Rivers though. He helps our LB core a lot.

I do like Rivers though. He helps our LB core a lot. The more I look into Jerome Simpson the more and more he physically reminds me of Chad Johnson coming out of college, except Simpson has excellent character and intelligence wheras Chad was always sort of a knucklehead. Two words on why Jerome Simpson will be a pro-bowler: Carson Palmer. I like that they took 3 because i'd like to see Chatman and Gabriel gone, and Caldwell is a flat out burner and is pretty versitile. Urreita was one of the last picks in the draft and has good upside, and you can't teach 6'6" in the red zone.

Agreed. If all three fulfill their potentials, it could be a good draft. If not, it'll look like another Marvin Lewis bust.

While I would have liked a early round running back, I think Rudy is done and don't think any of the others on the roster are more then change up backs, the Bengals desperately needed linebackers. It was getting to the point last year where I thought they were pulling guys off the street.
I believe that I would have taken the offer for Johnson, while I the fact that the Bengals aren't letting Johnson's baby act get what he wants, I'd hate for them to pay the price for it while he mopes around as well.
In the end though winning curse all the complaining.

Nancy Johnson will get traded after June 1st for '09 picks so they can break up the cap hit over two years and not eat all $8 mil this season. I actually liked Mendenhall at #9 moreso than Rivers, lets just hope that history proves me wrong and he sucks . For me it was a RB at #9 or none at all because I don't think any other RB would really upgrade over anything the Bengals have now. None of the Bengals runningbacks are elite, but Watson/Perry/Irons/Rudi will be a combo that should give the running game a little something.

I personally think that Mendenhall was really overrated coming into the draft. He'll probably do alright behind the steelers line, but he's not worthy of a top ten pick for the Bengals IMO.

I still have faith in my Rams. I'm telling ya sleeper team to watch out for lol. I thought they would be very good last season but injuries absolutely killed them. We were missing 4 out of our 5 starting O-lineman plus a back up, our number one corner, our QB, RB, and OLB. bring them back and add a stud like chris long and im liking what im seeing. for the life of me however i just cant understand why they front office treated Bruce so badly this off season. A ram his whole life, restructured his contract last season to help the team and is then cut again. That was a very sad and disgraceful day ....
