AlfRod is still in my top 30 because everything I've seen and heard is that he is absolutely special defensively at SS. Zach Vincej won the minor league gold glove at SS last year (they only give out one for all the minor leagues), and be it Ben Badler, Doug Gray, JJ Cooper, or Jonathan Mayo, they all say AlfRod is on another level. He was hitting better when I made this list, I have dropped him a little since, but he's still top 30. I agree. He has nothing whatsoever to work on defensively. He's shown signs that he can hit. No one (except maybe the Reds) thought he could hit at all but he's given us hope. Hope isn't a plan, but rankings are based on potential and he's shown some offensive potential. He's "old" but has taken time off as well.

We're likely done making splashes in the international market, and we are now past the draft, so here is how I see the system today. It's always in flux, and the guys with more tools can move up the list quicker if they look like they are putting some things together and translating tools into skills. I think the system is pretty deep, and adding a talent like Hunter Greene really adds some punch to the top of the system. Still very early, but it looks like the back to back #2 overall picks have been a boon for the Reds so far. Players to keep an eye on:• Michael Beltre, OF, Low A • Mariel Bautista, CF, Rk • Tyler Mondile, RHP, Rk • Debby Santana, Inf, DSL • Blake Trahan, SS, AA • Keury Mella, RHP, AA • Jackson Stephens, RHP, AAA • Phillip Ervin, OF, AAA I think this is a good list, but here are a few players I think you totally missed. Juan Perez. This guy is a top 10 guy. Don't know how you missed him. Scott Moss. Throws a little too hard, but is 10-5 in...Dayton I believe. Sebastian Elizarde. Probably would make a good 4th OF if someone is moved. Miles Gordon. Speedy CF, that should make it to Dayton soon. Alejo Lopez. Rangy 2b...ditto. Andy Sugilio. Ditto to Gordon. Carlos Macherro. Unknown long reliever with a low K/IP rate. Should probably be looked at as a starter. ...Don't see Kuerry Mella.....? Jesus Reyes & Wendy Bautista...couple of very good arms in Daytona right now. Chad Tromp & Rob Brantly. Probably our top two catching prospect right now? Hitting .311 down there. I don't think Stephenson is built to be a C. I think he winds up in the OF. Brantly 51k/352pa. How come nobody has heard of this guy at Louisville? Don't know what happened to Chad Wallach. He was impressive when I saw him in Arizona. I can't speak much of the new draftees, except the slew of college pitchers are probably about the same age as these guys, and haven't proven anything...yet. Jeter Downs and Greene are probably going to be stars.

Jeter Downs and Greene are probably going to be stars. Perez is a 25 year old utility guy with a career .638 OPS in AA and .684 OPS in AAA. I'm not sure if you're being serious or joking. There's not a team in baseball where he'd crack a top 10 list. He's organizational filler. Duke listed Moss at 13. Brantly no longer qualifies as a prospect due due to him having ~400 plate appearances with two other organizations. .682 OPS in 1200+ AAA plate appearances. He is also organizational filler. Of the guys you listed, I would include Miles Gordon in Duke's list. There are a couple of others where I think an argument could possibly be made. But Perez as a top 10 guy is... well, something.

I'm starting to think that this flipper dude is just posting fecal matter to try and be funny. I think he's just new here, new to this, making his first move into a higher level of baseball discussion. Welcome.

Yeah, higher level of baseball discussion requires knowing who's been released Looking at the Louisville Bats' stat sheet doesn't show that, anymore than it provides insight into Juan Perez's value.

Are you suggesting that Perez holds more value than what his career numbers/profile would indicate? Or that you simply can't look at his numbers this year in Louisville and determine he's that good?

Well. Being 25, doesn't make you valueless...is what I'm saying. I've seen him play, he can pick it at 2b, and could probably sure as hell pick it at SS. He went down with 4hr's and 8rbi's....I think. You can make your conclusion whether he can swing it as well.

I'm suggesting that Desfipper doesn't have any understanding of the mix of scouting, performance, level of competition, and age. Juan Perez has zero value, shouldn't get called up, but he's definitely put up good numbers in AAA. I've seen lots of stupider suggestions, though, that a 25 middle infielder held in low regard despite a .398 OBP is underrated. Perez's numbers in 2017 don't tell the whole picture, he's filler, not a prospect.
