The rumor mill makes it sound as if Atlanta has bowed out of the bidding, but that several teams, the Reds included, are still involved. Reds, White Sox, A's, Cardinals, Padres, and Astros seem to get mentioned the most. Jon Heyman thinks it'll be the White Sox because they are a big market team that is rebuilding and could use an OF, but doesn't appear to have any inside information on it.

Sounds like The Reds are bowing out. Rumor is the bidding is over $25 million now, which turns into $50 million after the penalty. I can't get mad about that, that's a pretty significant outlay of cash. Oh well.

The Reds should spend it. They won't be spending anything in IFA for the next 24 months, probably won't be spending in FA, and there aren't any glaring extensions at hand either.
Big Bob looks to be paying down debt soon with the new tv contract.
