Torque Tortuga is irresistible...
Terror of the diamond by day, virtuoso leader of a samba revival orchestra by night...

Not sure if the poll on the website is updated, but if it is then Shelldon is running away with this.

---WNDB Daytona (December 14th, 2014)
Daytona Beach, FL – They didn’t have a say in the new minor league baseball team nickname, but Daytona baseball fans did get to choose the name of that team’s new mascot.
The Daytona Tortugas announced on Friday that “Shelldon” was the winner of an online poll that allowed fans to choose the new mascot name from amongst 5 choices.
That poll was set up on December 4th, the same day the Single-A Florida State League club officially unveiled the Tortugas nickname, logos and uniforms in a ceremony at Radiology Associates Field at Jackie Robinson Ballpark.
The online poll ended at Noon on Friday, with exactly 5,800 people voting during that 8-day period, according to team officials.
“Shelldon” was the runaway favorite of those who participated in the contest, taking 2,458 votes (42.4%).
“Tito” finished in 2nd place with 1,096 votes (18.9%), “Scooter” came in 3rd with 1,028 votes (17.8%), "Torque" came in 4th with 743 votes (12.8%) and "Ollie" came in dead last at 475 votes (8.19%).
Now that the mascot name is in place, a new contest is being held for where Shelldon will make his first official appearance.
Team officials say they’ve partnered with Volusia County Schools in a video contest where every county elementary school can enter for the right to have Shelldon visit their school first.
Those schools who wish to enter can submit a video of around 30 to 45 seconds showing their “school spirit” to Tortugas Director of Community Relations & Special Events Kasey Blair at kaseyblair@daytonatortugas.com.
No date has been set for that appearance, but Tortugas officials say it’ll be sometime after the New Year.
Daytona Baseball was forced to pick a new nickname after the Chicago Cubs ended their 22-year affiliation with Daytona last September, choosing instead to move their Single-A affiliation to Myrtle Beach.
It was 2 days after that announcement that the Cincinnati Reds – a rival of Chicago’s in Major League Baseball’s National League Central Division – took their place, signing a deal that will see the Tortugas as the Advanced-A affiliate of the Reds until at least 2018.
The Tortugas will take the field for the first time on April 9th when they host the Brevard County Manatees at the Jack. First pitch is at 7:05pm.
