The unveiling will be held at Radiology Associates Field at Jackie Robinson Ballpark inside the East Gate at the Daytona Auto Mall Picnic Pavilion at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday December 4th. Attendees will also get a first look at renderings of the new Daytona Baseball mascot. Fans will have the unique opportunity to decide the mascot's name with a fan-only vote. The Daytona Baseball staff will reveal the five pre-determined mascot name options at the unveiling, and a poll will run on the Daytona News-Journal's website ( www.news-journalonline.com ) from Thursday, 12/4 through Friday, 12/12. "We're extremely excited to unveil our new identity to the community and kickoff a new chapter in the history of professional baseball here in Daytona," Daytona Baseball General Manager Josh Lawther said. "Working with Studio Simon on the identity for the past couple months has been wonderful, as they are excellent at what they do." Daytona Baseball Opening Night 2015 is scheduled for Thursday, April 9th at 7:05 p.m. vs. Brevard County. Opening Night is presented by the Daytona Auto Mall and will feature a postgame fireworks extravaganza.

How about calling them the Airwrenches? It's too bad the Lansing Lugnuts are in a different league.

What the hell is a "Tortuga" I would have thought the logo was self explanatory, but Tortuga is Spanish for Turtle.

I find it amusing that Daytona has a similar color scheme to the Dayton Dragons. Just slap an A on the end and reuse jerseys.

I like the icon of the turtle with a bat. That's one angry looking turtle. I hope it isn't a metaphor for the player development process... slow as a turtle. I also hope it doesn't indicate the sort of players they seek - really really slow ones, perhaps with 4 legs and a shell, or 100+ years old.
Tortuga is also the pirate town in Haiti mentioned frequently in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.
I think it's a fun name. An interesting name. An unusual name. Perhaps even a funny name. Better than other names we've seen in the Reds' farm system in recent years... Lookouts, Riverbats, Blue Wahoos...

Tito (the worse IMHO) is leading right now. I'd go for Torque. I got to say that Shelldon is the worst though

Tito (the worse IMHO) is leading right now. I'd go for Torque. I got to say that Shelldon is the worst though Shelldon is the best! Like, no question about it. Followed by Scooter and Torque. At least if you like The Big Bang Theory.
