(MLB)
The newest collective bargaining agreement called for a cost-of-living adjustment based on the yearly increase through October of the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers, rounded to the nearest $500. There will be a similar adjustment for the minimum in 2016, the final season of the labor contract.
Major League Baseball's minimum salary is rising to $507,500 next year from $500,000.
The minor league minimum for a player signing a second major league contract goes up to $82,700 from $81,500. The minor league minimum for a player signing an initial big league contract rises to $41,400 from $40,750.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
---These new figures are now in the original post.
Aside from 5 arbitration cases (Leake, Chapman, Mesoraco, Cozart, Frazier) and salary hikes to non arb players - the Reds are required to pay them only league minimum but they'll likely get a small raise (Cingrani, DeSclafani, Hoover, Diaz, Suarez, Negron, Hamilton) the opening day figures are all told.

For anyone not keeping track - Maholm and Gregg are both Article XX-B free agents. Given Gregg's age, I have a hard time seeing the Reds giving him a retention bonus - so it's either make the club or get released IMHO. Maholm, is a different story - even if he were not to make the club's opening day 25 man roster out of ST (which if healthy - I'd probably pencil him into at this moment in time), I could see the Reds giving him the bonus and stashing him in Louisville for depth.

---John Fay (Cincinnati Enquirer)
GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- When you're coming back from shoulder surgery — like left-hander Sean Marshall is — it's not always a straight line toward getting back to form.
Marshall was moving along pretty well from his June 24 shoulder surgery. And then ...
"Two weeks ago, I was doing three sets of long-tossing from 120 feet, feeling pretty good. But I kind of had a little soreness in my shoulder. I got out here (to Arizona) Feb. 6. I had to slow down a bit. I'm not on the mound yet.
"Hopefully, I'll resume pretty quick and finish that long-toss session of the rehab, then throw on some flat ground and be on the mound soon."
Marshall was limited to 15 appearances last year and 16 appearances in 2013 by the shoulder problem. After three stints on the disabled list and lots of strengthening and throwing work, he finally had the surgery.
Marshall wasn't discouraged by the setback, and he's pleased with how things have gone overall.
"I've been progressing," Marshall said. "I had an offseason full of therapy. I had a good therapist up in Chicago and the docs and therapists here. I had a good offseason."
Marshall is in the final year of his three-year extension with the Reds. If he can get back to being the guy who put up a 2.51 ERA over 73 appearances for the Reds in 2012, it would be huge for the Reds.
First he's got to get where he can throw without soreness. He hopes to begin throwing with the rest of the pitchers on Thursday."
"I've had some small road bumps, really just from throwing and exercising," he said. "That slowed me down a little bit. I'll be back track probably (Thursday)."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've been waiting to make the move, but in my opening day payroll projections I'm now moving Marshall to the DL - I think Maholm likely gets his spot but as of now I'll fill it with someone on the actual 40 man roster - it'll bump overall payroll up about 400K$.

So....Donald Lutz qualifies for a 4th option year.
He has less than 5 full seasons of pro ball under his belt (only '11, '12, '13, and '14 qualify as full seasons - because he was at or above A ball (leagues below that don't have 90+ day seasons - which count as full seasons)).
Lutz signed with the Reds in July of 2007, and had his contract purchased in November of 2011 to protect him from that year's upcoming Rule 5 draft. The Reds burned his original three options in March 2012, March 2013, and March 2014.

Major League Baseball Clubs are required to pay all players on their 40 man roster who have yet to reach arbitration the league minimum of 507,500 $ when they are on their active 25 man roster or DL. However, teams frequently decide to pay players who have major league service time slightly more than that figure. The Reds are no different and this year's contracts were renewed in late February when camps opened...
The Reds have graciously agreed to pay the following 6 players above league minimum this year (whilst they are on the 25 man roster or DL):
Billy Hamilton - 545K J.J. Hoover - 535K (the Reds paid Hoover 520K last year when they were only required to pay him 500K) Tony Cingrani 525.5K (the Reds paid Cingrani 512.5K last year when they were only required to pay him 500K) Jason Bourgeois - 522.5K Kris Negron - 512.5K Jumbo Diaz - 510K
(That's an additional 105.5K$ added to the Reds payroll)
DeSclafani's salary is being reported as just the league minimum
The other players who have mlb service time, but weren't arb eligible, who have yet to have their salaries announced are all expected to make league minimum. (Axelrod, Barnhart, Contreras, Corcino, Dennick, Holmberg, Lutz, Magill, Y. Rodriguez, Suarez, and Villarreal)

Mid-season update on options:
Donovan Hand (1 of 3), Pedro Villarreal (3 of 3), Kyle Skipworth (2 of 3), Josh Smith (1 of 3), Raisel Iglesias (2 of 3), Chris Dominguez (1 of 3), Brennan Boesch (3 of 3), Jumbo Diaz (1 of 3), Matt Magill (3 of 3), Keyvius Sampson (2 of 3), Carlos Contreras (3 of 3), David Holmberg (3 of 3), Amir Garrett (1 of 3), Eugenio Suarez (2 of 3), Donald Lutz (3 of 3), Kyle Waldrop (1 of 3), Juan Duran (2 of 3), and Yorman Rodriguez (3 of 3) have all officially burned an option year thus far this season.
Kris Negron (3 of 3) will join that list on July 14th.
****A player can be optioned multiple times in a single season and it counts as one option year. Players utilizing their 3rd option year will not be allowed to be sent to the minors next season without first removing them from the 40 man roster and passing them through waivers (I.E. Villarreal, Boesch, Magill, Contreras, Holmberg, Lutz, YRod and soon to be Negron; in addition to Mattheus, Bourgeois, and De Jesus - who entered the year having already burned all of their options (Plus any player with 5 or more years of service)).
--No one else that has donned a Reds uniform this season has burned an option.

Brandon Finnegan has burned his 1st of 3 (though he could technically qualify for a 4th option year down the road).

Edit: Due to the finagling of option dates by the Royals, Brandon Finnegan has yet to burn an option year thus far this season. In order to burn an option a player must be on optional assignment for 20 days. He'd been optioned and recalled 5 times this year by the Royals and none of those trips lasted more than 19 days.
Optioned March 23rd (didn't count until April 5th) - Recalled April 24th - 19 days Optioned May 7th - Recalled May 25th - 18 days Optioned May 26th - Recalled June 13th - 18 days Optioned July 8th - Recalled July 9th - 1 day Optioned July 19th - Recalled July 26th (not to report) - 7 days
Optioned July 27th (by the Reds)
